Experience the Madness of Elektra at the Houston Grand Opera

The Houston Grand Opera 2017-2018 season is in full swing and not slowing down! This season the opera will present performances of West Side Story, The Barber of Seville, and Norma. Coming soon is the terrifying beauty of Elektra.

The only thing better than the performances is the fact that the Houston Grand Opera is an easy drive into downtown from our Tiburon Apartments.

Houston Grand Opera – Elektra

Elektra is running on the Houston Grand Opera stage from January 19th – February 2nd, 2018. This powerful one-act opera by Richard Strauss tells the mythological story of Elektra. She was the daughter of the legendary hero Agamemnon and his wife, the evil Clytemnestra.

Elektra learns that Clytemnestra has murdered Agamemnon in revenge for the death of her sister Iphigenia. She becomes obsessed with hate and vengeance and is eventually overcome with madness. Through a series of disturbing events, Elektra carries out her plan to murder Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisth. Aiding Elektra in her quest for retribution are her siblings, Orest and Chrysothemis.
